Decorating Ideas for Girls Bedrooms

Kids' bedrooms are probably the most fun part of the house to decorate. Basically, you can go wild and run with your imagination when it comes to this special part of your home. Even more so if you are fixing up a girl's bedroom. There are just so many things you can do with it and girls bedroom ideas aren't likely to run out. First, let's talk about wall color as this is the first thing that people consider when they decorate a room. Of course, when you think of ideas for a girl's bedroom regardless of whether they are just a toddler or in their teens, you immediately think of the color pink. However, many girls tend to outgrow this color so a great suggestion would be to stick to something neutral like a nice white or light yellow wall and just play up your chose girls' room theme with the furniture and decoration you will put in it. Start with the closet, a full size closet might seem like a little too much right now but you know how fast kids grow, right? So, don't hesitate buying a full size closet now and preferably one that you know will last till your kids reach their teens.

As for the room's decoration, it would be a good idea to keep it simple. Say, you are following a certain theme such as a princess theme. The idea here is to not go overboard. A nice princess wall décor should do just as well and would save you money in the long run as eventually you would have to take this down when your kids outgrow them. Some great girl's bedroom ideas would be to get items that follow your theme but not too literally. A great example of this would be to look for a nice lamp which is very rococo in design. It would still fit in well with the theme but it's not something that your girl can outgrow. A nice side table, chairs, study table or vanity that incorporates ornate detailing into its aesthetic are very nice to have to and I'm sure that your kid would appreciate the beauty in the pieces when they get older.

Children's room lighting can also help enhance the theme of your room. However, since kids would sleep in it, you should choose your lighting wisely. As much as possible, never use lighting that can become fire hazards. These would be the kind of bulbs that tend to get extremely hot when they are left on for long periods of time. There are many child safe lighting available and I recommend that you use those instead of ordinary light bulbs. There are also things that are commonly referred to as fairy lights. Basically, these are just like Christmas lights but minus the blinking and music. They give of nice and subtle yellow lighting which brings a touch of whimsy to any room. Even adults enjoy it as they can be very relaxing as well. Girls' bedroom ideas are endless; there are so many themes to choose from. But the bottom line is to never go overboard and always pay attention to the little details as these would bring the look together in the end.

Choosing The Proper Childrens Bedding

Perhaps one of the trickier aspects of girls bedroom decorating is choosing the proper children's bedding. It is often overlooked, however, and people need to pay more attention to properly choosing one. There are various reasons for this so let's count them down. The first of which would be the very obvious one, it has to match with the girls room theme. Now, this seems easy but if you want bedding that would last till your toddler becomes a teen then here are some tips. First, don't choose ones that have characters printed on them. Sure, your kid would love it while they are still kids but in a few years, after they have discovered "cooler" stuff then they would want something else. So choose one that follows the color scheme instead or something that does have prints on them but ones that are versatile enough to fit your kid's ever changing style. Second, think about fabric allergies. There are in fact, some bedding fabrics that can cause allergies. Just take those faux fur covered pillows for example. If your child is allergic to fur then its best not to have it in such close contact with her so forego the faux fur trimmed bedding and even the faux fur rug.

Third, you know how there are some children's bedding that make use of textured fabric that look wonderful but feel rather rough on the skin? You should watch out for that. Of course, kids are the most sensitive to this and thus putting an uncomfortable bedspread would only make them lose sleep. As you can see, this is in fact trickier than it looks. Simply because you would want to ensure your kid of maximum comfort each and every night they go to sleep. Warm bedding, nice and clean ones are among the basic necessities for a good night's sleep no matter what age you are. Another thing you should consider when choosing children's bedding is its care instructions. Basically, you would want something that will not require tediousness or the need to be taken to a dry cleaner. Let's face it, toddlers have small bedtime accidents and you wouldn't want to take the bedding to an expensive dry cleaner every time they wet the bed, don't you? So check the label, after all it's for your own sake.

Now, for those who are wondering about some examples of certain types of bedding for children's room themes here are a few: For a princess themed room, of course pink is the operative word. So nice pink beddings would do, but, if you want to give it the "royal" treatment pink satin and lace trimmings would do just the trick. For a not so feminine room, you could follow the color scheme you have working but add small details to the bedding such as cute little patchworks which you can take out when they get older. Some of the easier add ons to do are the trimmings on the pillow edges and tassels on the pillow corners. All you need is a bit of imagination and you'll see all the different possibilities you can do without the need to spend so much money on expensive items that they will eventually outgrow.
